The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) issued a report on Monday detailing the dwindling resources and operational infrastructure available to Palestinians across the Gaza Strip. According to the agency, only 39 UNRWA medical points remain functional. The medical sector is critically under-resourced: two-thirds (66%) of essential medical supplies are projected to run out within the next two months. More than half (57%) of essential medicines have either been exhausted or are projected to be depleted within the month.
Speaking to Al Jazeera on Monday, a spokesperson for Gaza’s Civil Defence confirmed that ambulance operations have been severely hampered by a fuel shortage. Eight vehicles, including those used for search and rescue operations, are currently out of service.
Violence in Gaza continues unabated. At least 44 people were reported killed on Monday. Among the dead were ten members of a single family, killed in overnight strikes on Jabalia between Sunday and Monday. Five others from the same family were critically wounded. Seven individuals were killed in Gaza City, while four bodies were recovered from beneath the rubble of a residential building targeted on Sunday evening. A young girl and an infant succumbed to their injuries following a strike on a tented area in Khan Yunis.
Sunday saw at least 70 fatalities across the Strip. Israeli artillery continued its bombardment, with eastern Gaza City and eastern Deir al-Balah coming under heavy shelling.
